1. I made PaleOMG’s Italian Sausage and Carmelized Onion frittata for breakfast this morning. It was super good and extremely easy. I served a slice with mixed berries. Head on over to her blog for pretty pictures and the recipe 🙂
2. I did this swim workout from FitSugar for my exercise today. The only changes I made were adding a 50 yard warm-up and cool down. I also changed the rest between exercises: I rested for one minute between sets of 100s, 30 seconds between sets of 50, and 15 seconds between sets of 25. The workout doesn’t specify stroke, but I alternated between freestyle and breast stroke for the 100s and 50s, and then did one of each stroke for the 25s.
For the past month or so I have been swimming about once a week. I used to swim competitively from ages 8-15 and then took a longgggg break. Now I like to add it into my workout routine for a full-body workout and to switch up my cardio. It’s always incredibly challenging for me and can sometimes be frustrating to feel like a beginner again, but at the end of a pool workout I feel accomplished, so it’s worth it.
Side note, if anyone is looking for a good shampoo for after swimming, I’ve been using this one from ion. It leaves my hair feeling clean but not super dry.
3. My gym is holding a contest!!!! When you go for 15 days you win a one week guest pass. When you go for 30 days you get a t-shirt. And if you go for 45 days you get a massage and a free one hour training session. The contest is running from May 5- June 30. It has really been motivating me to get to the gym most days, which is awesome because I know that consistency is key for results.
The only problem is that my knee has been bugging me a little bit and I think it’s from over-use, specifically from the treadmill. I’ve taken 4 days off from running so hopefully the pain doesn’t come back!
