A Few of My Favorite Things: My Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor & (Protein) Ice Cream!

Happy Friday all 🙂

First off, say hello to my little friend

Polar FT4!
Polar FT4
Hey buddy 🙂

I’ve had my Polar FT4 for a couple months now, but I didn’t want to do a review on it until I really broke it in. My FT4 has been an absolute gem and my workouts feel so much more productive these days. Here is a short list of what I’m loving:

  • My FT4 provides continuous, accurate heart rate stats. It tells me when I’m in my fitness zone versus when I’m out of my fitness zone and my heart rate falls low ( this happens when I’m either recovering from weights/cardio or slacking off, shhh). Also, I’m able to customize what my fitness zone is based on my target heart rate. I typically shoot for a HR of 65-85% of my maximum heart rate.
  • There is a Smart Calorie feature that uses your personal data to provide accurate calories burned! This is great because you can see exactly how many calories you burn in group classes or the like instead of just getting an estimate from your instructor or from a Google search. Also, I don’t really trust the standard calorie counters on machines, so this has been great for better accuracy.
  • My FT4 came with an easy to use heart rate chest strap made of soft fabric material that adapted to my shape and is super comfy.
  • It stores data from your last 10 workouts which you can reference and see trends that arise with your workout routine.

Overall, my Polar FT4 is a great gym buddy to have since it encourages me to push harder and get the most out of my workouts. I’ll probably upgrade one day and get a fancier version that has even more features (there’s so much variety online, it’s actually quite overwhelming) but for now, this is perfect.

Drum-roll…

And now for my other favorite thing! I had to do a double take when I saw an Instagram post that mentioned a healthy, yummy, protein ice cream. There was no picture, only the brand name: Halo Top Creamery and a mention of the fact that it is available at this healthy grocery store called Sprouts. I was skeptical, but since there is a Sprouts close by to me, I decided to pick up a pint. I read the nutritional facts and saw that 1/2 cup was 70 calories and has 7g of protein and 4g net carbs. I was like whaaaat? And it’s also gluten free and all that good stuff. The verdict, it really is yummy! Nothing, I mean, nothing will ever beat real, not so good for you ice cream, but this is not too shabby. I want to try their other flavors (I saw chocolate, lemon cake etc.) And I cannot wait to throw it in a smoothie, specifically, my “Healthified” Jamba Juice Peanut Butter Moo’d. I already know it’ll be heavenly.

What are you loving at the moment? Any new products or foods you want to dish about? Share and let us know.

Have a great weekend! 🙂

    1. I have had a polar watch since August… I love mine, personally my favourite thing is just knowing exactly how long my workout has been. Great post!

      1. Thanks for stopping by and sharing! Yes, I love that feature, especially when incorporating weights or classes and you don’t have a clock to keep track.

    1. I’ve been eyeing the polar Ft4 or 7. I want to see what I’m really doing in the gym especially in class. Do you have to wear the strap at all times? If so is it comfortable? I’ve been nervous about dropping $70 to $80 and only having amazon reviews to go by. Thanks.

      1. Thank you for stopping by and sharing! I think the FT4 would work great for you since it’s easy to understand and operate. Plus you’ll know stats for all your classes (calories, heart rate etc.) You do have to wear the strap, but it’s really comfy; you’ll forget that you’re wearing it. Let me know if you have other questions! 🙂
