This Week’s Workouts: Nike Running & Strength Building

Happy Valentine’s Day friends and cheers to another week of workouts! We hope you’ve all been enjoying your weekend so far, and hopefully you have tomorrow off so you can rest a bit more. Can you believe we’re halfway through the month already? I’m still on my self-love and self-care kick and it’s awesome. I treated myself to a little retail therapy with some goodies from Sephora and I’ve been eating healthy and working out consistently.

Retail therapy adventures. Bundled up because this weather has been ridiculous.

I was a bit nervous about falling off the wagon because I traveled this month– I was in Nigeria for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday, retirement party and book launch celebration. On the way back, I stopped in France, New York and FINALLY landed back in the district. I gave myself time to rest up from my travels and jet-lag tiredness and then I got back in the gym.

Post workout high

This week, I’m ready to complete all of my workouts since I had to miss a few last week while traveling. Also, it’s been frigid around this way so I’ve been bundling up and heading to the gym. I’m going to feature my favorite gym clothes as of late that I recently purchased that have really done well to keep me warm.

Here is this week’s schedule from my Nike Running Coach–I’m currently on week 3 of 8 of the 5k training program (Beginner Level):

Monday: Walk (walk for 2 miles at a brisk pace)

Tuesday: Run 3 miles (Run 3 miles alternating between walking and running every 2 minutes)

Wednesday: Cross-Train (I’ll be doing weight training that focuses on my upper body strength)

Thursday: Walk (walk for 2 miles at a brisk pace)

Friday: Walk (walk for 2 miles at a brisk pace)

Saturday: Run 4 miles

Sunday: Rest

I switched the Thursday rest day to Sunday because it’s more practical for my schedule. There’s lots of walking here since this is the beginner program. When the workout is slated for a walk, I usually jog and walk since I’m at a fitness level where I can handle it. If you’re just beginning, this program is totally doable. By the end of the week, I will have clocked 13 miles and maybe I’ll even move up on the leader board with my friend’s on the app!

What workouts do you have planned for this week? Let us know in the comments!
