It’s really hard to believe that we’re in the month of September. This year is flying by (I feel like I have been saying this every year since my early twenties) and I’m sad to see summer come to an official close later this month. On the other hand, I feel blessed to welcome a new month and another season for that fresh start feeling.
But before that fresh start, I want to reflect on my old goals from August, namely: eat healthy, get a skin routine together, workout 5xs a week, deep condition my hair.
On eating healthy…I’d say I got that down 60% of the time in August. It definitely wasn’t my best but no regrets. I got to indulge and eat some yummy food with great friends including KYRA when she came out to DC.
On skincare…I started washing with Cetaphil oil prone skin wash and my husband ended up getting me a prescription for some skin medication which seems to be doing the trick. Thanks Doc!
On deep conditioning my hair weekly…check! I haven’t skipped a beat which is crucial because my hair doesn’t seem as “happy” as it usually is. It’s been dry…summer has done a number on it. I guess I just didn’t know how to cope with the effect of humidity and maybe wore it out too much? I’m stumped. I’ll likely do a protective style throughout fall.
On working out 5xs a week…ehhh see below:
Toward the end of August, I was in a fitness funk and I was feeling antsy. I had an overload of information on what workouts to do, when to do them, what to eat etc. But I just didn’t feel like planning everything out all the time (meals, workouts etc) so something had to give. Enter in OrangeTheory Fitness (OTF) & ClassPass. I made up my own 30 day challenge in my mind wherein I promise to push myself fitness wise, eat well and just love and take care of my body in general. So far OTF and ClassPass especially has allowed me to be more focused. Since my workouts are automatically planned by someone else, all I think about now is my nutrition. Aw the beauty of fitness classes. And since there are penalties for being a no-show or cancelling last minute, I haven’t missed a scheduled workout yet. I started day one of my challenge on August 29th so I’ll be checking in again around September 29th.
Here are my goals:
1) 30 days of self-care/health awareness. I want to ask myself daily, what have you done for your health (physically, mentally, spiritually).
2) Complete 10 classes in my ClassPass core trial. I made sure to implement classes that integrate HIIT, weight training and flexibility/core work. I wrote out this calendar as a general guide and spread out my 10 tentative classes.
3) Track all food intake 30 days straight, paying careful attention to macronutrients.
